Chideock WI July Meeting
At our July meeting Nadiya Wynn introduced us to the delights of seated yoga. With her soothing voice Nadiya guided us through a variety of gentle exercises, helping us appreciate the many benefits of yoga including awareness of physical tension throughout the body and its release. Drawing on natural symbols such as flowers and trees we spent a mindful and relaxing forty minutes with a focus on inward and outward breath and seated holding the Prana Mudra, the Gesture of Life, the session ended with a brief meditation. Nadiya can be found via her website and email nadiya@restorativebeing.co.uk
We were delighted to welcome four visitors and possible new members along with our usual meeting items: raffle, tea with delicious cakes, competition for ‘an item that soothes’ with entries as diverse as tibetan bells and a bottle of vodka! Congratulations to member Sue who won the ‘flower of the month’ competition with her beautiful red rose as she celebrates her 50th Wedding Anniversary. Our President, Mary, gave details of donations made by the WI to other local charities and organisations and read out their letters of thanks.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 1st September at Chideock Village Hall, 2pm, when Brian Bates will tell us all about Villains, Victims and Tragedies! Sounds Gothic! Please join us ladies!
