First Bus Fare Increases from January 2023
Information from the Western Area Transport Group (WATAG).
First Wessex has announced fare increases that will affect day return tickets,
although single fares are unchanged.
Bridport to Dorchester and Weymouth increases from £7.50 to £9.40 for a day
return.
Group tickets for up to five adults are unchanged.
First have also introduced flexible “bundle” tickets offering 3 days travel in 5, giving
three days travel in any five days, 5 in 7, 6 in 20, etc. which may appeal to part-time
commuters.
The government’s proposed £2 fare cap for bus fares- WATAG understands that
some routes which were up for tender at the time of the announcement would have
slipped through the net and some providers don’t meet the criteria so there will not
be confirmation as to whether the £2.00 fare will be introduced for some time yet.
