Whether you are a new or existing holiday cottage owner you may or may not be aware that you should provide a fire risk assessment for your property.
A fire risk assesssment is an organised and methodical look at your holiday premises. It involves considering the activities that are likely to be carried out, recognising the likelihood that a fire could start, spread and cause harm to those in and around the premises. A fire risk assessment document demonstrates compliance of the fire safety law with the legal obligation to identify risks and to ensure that appropriate precautions are in place.
As the owner, it is your responsibility to provide this by law (the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005) if you have paying guests to stay.
If this a daunting task and you don’t know where to start or have not revisited your existing fire risk assessment for a while, why not call on Ignite South West who can visit your holiday property to carry out a full fire risk assessment. We can identify and document areas that may need to be addressed in order to comply with the law and keep your guests safe. When complete, we will provide you with a document that should be made available to your guests at your property as well as a copy for your records.
We are locally based in Chideock and also cover the whole of the South West of England. We have a wealth of knowledge to offer and can also supply and fit smoke and CO2 detectors as well as other equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets at very competitive prices. Alternatively, we can give advice if you wish to fit and purchase your own or keep compliant equipment already in place.
