The “Dorset Evening” held by Chideock W.I. on 15th January proved to be very popular. Tickets quickly sold out for this community fund raising event in Chideock village hall. Tables were set using the red and yellow colours of the displayed Dorset flag. The food and entertainment could not have been better. The evening started with the arrival of the “Symondsbury Mummers”. Their performance was amazing creating laughter which set the mood for the entire evening. The menu was Dorset based included homemade “Homity Pie” served with roasted root vegetables and a variety of individual recipes for Dorset Apple Cake.
After supper, entertainment provided by “ Tinker’s Cuss” a Dorset folk group was amazing.
The music was easy to identify with, as the audience went back in time. Singing along with the choruses of favourite songs and enjoying the typical lyrics of traditional Dorset songs. What a fantastic village event it turned out to be.
