The ‘Chideock in the Wars’ event was so well attended that we had to hastily put out more chairs for people to watch the power point presentation and the play ‘The Chideock Egg Lady’. Many thanks must go to all who made the Exhibition and Commemoration such a success, namely, John Forsey, Robyn & Eve Symes, Raymond Jerrard, The Chideock Society, The Chideock Players, St.Giles Bellringers, The Chideock Trust and my fellow committee members Frances Colville and Colin Foot. I am told many found the Remembrance very moving with the names of all those commemorated on the War Memorial being read out whilst the bellringers ‘rang a peal’ in their honour. The wartime tea was a great success and many enjoyed the Aztec biscuits and Trench cake! I was very honoured to have been part of this tribute and all the research will shortly be available on this community website. A total of £215.50 was raised for ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
