Heating and insulation help for Chideock and Seatown homes this winter

Free Boiler Upgrade is an energy consultancy giving grants advice. We help households work out which heating and insulation schemes may fit their home and what to check before they apply. We do not install anything ourselves.

Three schemes may help local homes this winter.

ECO4 is funded by energy suppliers and can help with insulation and heating upgrades. Homeowners on certain benefits may be eligible, subject to eligibility and survey, if their home has an EPC of D to G. The scheme is due to end on 31 December 2026 and capacity may be limited.

In Dorset, the Warm Homes: Local Grant can fund insulation, air source heat pumps, smart controls and solar panels, with no gas boilers. It is currently fully subscribed, so new applicants join a waiting list with no guarantee of funding.

If you own your home and it is heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers £7,500 towards a heat pump, plus an extra £1,500 until March 2027.

You can look up your EPC by postcode on GOV.UK. If anyone calls unexpectedly offering grant-funded work, check with Dorset Council or your energy supplier before agreeing to anything.
